FRIDAY STORY

I have decided that I will try to limit the amount of motivational messages to avoid creating a misunderstanding about the main topic of this blog… but today I found something that I think it needs to be posted:

Attitude

There once was a woman who woke up one morning,
looked in the mirror, and noticed she had only three hairs on her head.
Well,” she said, “I think I’ll braid my hair today?”
So she did and she had a wonderful day.

The next day she woke up,
looked in the mirror and saw that she had only two hairs on her head.
“H-M-M,” she said,
“I think I’ll part my hair down the middle today?”
So she did and she had a grand day.

The next day she woke up,
looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only one hair on her head.
“Well,” she said,
“today I’m going to wear my hair in a pony tail.”
So she did and she had a fun, fun day.

The next day she woke up,
looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn’t a single hair on her head.
“YEA!” she exclaimed,
“I don’t have to fix my hair today!”

Attitude is everything.

Be kinder than necessary,
for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Live simply,

Love generously,

Care deeply,

Speak kindly…….

Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass.

It’s about learning to dance in the rain.

Have a good day…I sure I’ll have

Motivation is the fuel necessary to keep the human engine running.
Zig Ziglar

Something in human nature causes us to start slacking off at our moment of greatest accomplishment. As you become successful, you will need a great deal of self-discipline not to lose your sense of balance, humility and commitment.”

Is Java bad for students?

I have read an interesting article about Java and its role in the education of the next generation of Software Developers.
The authors Dr. Robert B.K. Dewar and Dr. Edmond Schonberg do point out their concern about  teaching the Java language as first programming language in the Universities in US. Its a known fact that there is high need on the Job market for high level software developers (like JAVA)  so the Universities are trying to fulfill this need with concentrating on the demand, instead of quality and more deeper Computer Science knowledge, by teaching programming skills using the Java language.

I have to agree that choosing Java as the first programming language learned is not appropriate, because Java was made to hide those basic (hardware and software) concepts which are needed to understand how a computer program works and what is actually happening.

I have to say that I am glad that back than in the school we have been introduced to computer programming with learning  Pascal which is simple enough but yet complex procedural programming language (something like an easier C). I cannot think of what have been happened if the first language would been Java…

I still think that a good learning process should include the learning of the most important low level programming languages like Assembly, C or Pascal and after this C++, Java…and others…

Have a look at the article too at http://www.stsc.hill.af.mil/CrossTalk/2008/01/0801DewarSchonberg.html
